Thank you for your support throughout 2015, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
2015 has been a busy year at The London Cycle Workshop. Attempting to expand to a second location with a new shop had been on the cards for some time, but actually doing it was tougher than we had anticipated. All the staff worked exceptionally hard at St John’s Hill to keep the pace of another busy year while at the same time we expanded the team and put our DIY skills to the test to fit out the King’s Street shop. It has been a labour of love, financed through hard work and savings.
The customers have been great, some of the best. All of the staff at The London Cycle Workshop share the same passion for bikes and cycling, repairing and mending, helping and offering honest advice. We do our best to work to the highest standards when we work on our customers bikes. In return the loyalty and praise our customers bestow upon us is touching.
The 20th of November is an important date in our diary. It is the date that back in 2009, we signed the lease for 125 St John’s Hill. It was such an exciting day. As soon as we had the keys, friends and family were by our sides stripping out the shop that afternoon. It wasn’t long until we opened, there was snow on the ground and the shop looked, to be kind, a bit amateur with almost no stock. But there was a set of tools and a bundle of enthusiasm, and on day one a customer bought a bike in for a service.
Today is the sixth anniversary of the beginning of The London Cycle Workshop. Much has changed in that time, there are now two shops with 10 mouths to feed. There has been a lot of hard work on our part, and a huge amount of support from customers, fellow small business owners, our book keepers and accountants, our suppliers, our supporters and champions, our friends, our family and our fellow cyclists. Thank you all, so very much, we couldn’t do it without you.
We are pleased to announce that after five and a half great years at St John’s Hill … The London Cycle Workshop has opened a second workshop, at 373 Kings Street, Hammersmith, W6 9NJ.
Pop in and say Hello
After a busy couple of weeks fitting out the workshop, we are now fully open – so why not pop in with your bike or just to say hello and take a look …
It’s all about the tools
At the heart of our business, we have developed a reputation for quality of our servicing, repairs and upgrades of a wide range of customer bikes at our existing St John’s Hill shop.
At Hammersmith, this service continues with a great team of mechanics … and lots of shiny new tools!
We have a good selection of parts & accessories in-store already and will be growing our stock every week to meet the needs of our customers – so there will be even more ready for you.
And if you can’t see what you want on display, just ask.
We now look forward to serving London’s great cycling community north of the river too.
The TLCW team.
Over the Easter bank holiday weekend we will be open the following hours:
Friday the 3rd April 1000 – 1600
Saturday the 4th April 1000 – 1800
Sunday the 5th of April 1000 – 1600
Monday the 6th of April 1000 – 1600
During this time we will be carrying out some improvements to our workshop, so will be offering on the spot repairs, but will not be able to store bikes for servicing. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will be back up to speed for business as usual from Tuesday the 7th of April.
After much agonising Nick is selling his Look 695.
SRAM Red groupset.
Zipp 404 wheels.
Serviced after every ride.
Frame size is Medium, adjustments can be made using the C-Stem and by changing the E-post.
Cofidis team rode the 2010 Tour de France on this bike, (well, not this exact bike).

First things first, as of the 20th November The London Cycle Workshop is five years old! It’s massive milestone and a huge achievement for us, one that we have only been able to achieve thanks to the support of all of our customers. You. So thank you all, it’s been a pleasure to meet you all, and to service and repair your bikes! From humble beginnings to a team of seven in a shop overflowing with a massive range of parts and accessories it’s been quite a journey. And there’s plenty more to come…
As a small thank you, we will be offering free Winter safety checks for the whole of December. The checks will be a quick once while you wait, if work needs doing we can discuss from there. At least you will have inflated tyres and a lubricated chain!
Wheel building is a great way to keep occupied when the workshop board starts to thin out. Although many of our fair weather cycling customers have put their bike back in the shed / bush / river / garden, many keep commuting and training all year round. And for those of you wanting to get out on the road during the harsher months rather than sitting the bike on a turbo, we have been building a great selection of winter training wheels.
We have a mainly been using Shimano 105 and Ultegra hubs with either Mavic or H+Son rims. The pair above are Ultegra 6800 11 speed compatible hubs with H+Son Archetype rims and Sapim Laser spokes. As well as our custom wheel sets, we are still a premium Mavic dealer, and we continue to fit any of our wheels for free, including setting up gears and brakes. Ask any of the staff for more details.
The courtesy bikes have all had a make over for winter this year. We have fitted mudguards, pannier racks and lights and given them all a good service, including replacing the old suspension forks with rigid forks. They are free to borrow when we are servicing your bike. If you need to borrow a lock just ask. During the week the shop is open 7am to 7pm, so you can drop in on your way to work, swap your bike for a free courtesy bike, and swap back in the evening. No booking required. Couldn’t be easier…
With Winter in the air, we have been rotating the shop stock to reflect the changing seasons. We have a great new range of lights, loads of mudguard options, a great selection of pannier racks and bags, and lots of gloves, overshoes and head and neck warmers in all the sizes. We have also been expanding our helmet range with new models from Giro and Kask with a selection of sizes and colours to suite everyone, including the ever popular fluorescent yellow!
One more thing… For those of you wondering how Cheddar is doing, he’s fine and well in The New Forest, and turned two last month!
And a quick reminder, that you can stay up to date with all of the goings on at The London Cycle Workshop by following us on Twitter… @TLCWorkshop.
We have just read an email from Time Out informing us that our customers have nominated us in the Time Out Love London Awards 2014. So first of all a massive thank you to everyone who thought of nominating us. And secondly, please help us win our category by voting for us here under the SW11 section.
Once again, a massive thank you to all of our customers for their continued support.
